Layered Light, One Room—Many Roles
Convert a single attic into multiple moods with ambient (general), task (focused), and accent (visual interest) layers. Use low-profile ambient sources (IC/AT wafer LEDs or surface disks) to avoid rafter conflicts, then add task lights at desks, benches, and reading nooks. Linear LED strips inside knee-wall millwork wash vertical planes and make tight volumes feel larger.
Scenes & Controls
Program scenes—Work, Wind-Down, Guest—on smart dimmers or keypads. Pair 2700–3000K LEDs (90+ CRI) for warmth with one cooler task zone if needed. Multi-zone dimming trims heat and glare, especially on low slopes.
Glare & Daylight
Angle fixtures across the room, not down the pitch; use wall-wash trims near slopes to avoid scallops. For skylights/roof windows, integrate blackout or light-filtering shades so daylight and screen work can happily coexist.
